As with some authors, I am a bit overambitious on occasion. I set up my web site here with instructions for ordering and now find that my distribution network wasn't quite ready.

Right now, bookstores won't be able to bring my book up on their computers just yet.  Please be patient and I will post another note here as soon as everything is in order.  Thank you!

I discover Bookbuilders of Boston!

Last night, I attended the 60th New England Book Show and award dinner, at Boston Symphony Hall.  I had a great time!

I mean, collectively, these are definitely my people!  Designers, graphic artists, editors, paper & binding experts, and others, all involved in the craft of creating a book that looks right, feels good to hold in your hands, and presents its content in a way that seems natural and accessible.

I had fascinating conversations with a variety of other people who attended. I came away glad that I had taken the risk to show up at a gala event hosted by an organization I knew nothing about a few days ago.

I'm definitely going next year!
(The two women in the photo with me, Kristina DeMichele and Rosie Gutmann, were co-chairs of the committee that organized and produced the event.  They did a wonderful job!)

Editor Returns Mark Up - I'm afraid to open it!

I don't know.  Chalk it up to Mercury just coming back from retrograde.  Or fear that I'll be faced with decisions that I won't want to make.  Such as, "This chapter doesn't really belong in the book."

I think, in the long run, what I'm learning is that I'm not in school anymore.  I hired my editor to be honest with me.  Because that's the most valuable thing!  I didn't hire her to behave as a "yes man" who would fail to give me a perspective other than my own, or "school teacher" who would somehow wield the power of humiliation by scolding me.  My work is both A+ and could use improvement!

So, don't worry.  I'll open the file when I'm good and ready.  And then I'll dive into the decision making process.  I'll make some changes, and decide to leave some other things as they were or perhaps rewrite something in a new way.

Actually, this is exciting!

    Glenn Koenig

I'm a social activist who still needs to pay the mortgage, eat, and do the laundry.  But, more than that, I'm a love activist.  I want to make life better without having to say there's anything wrong with it now.
