Over the past two weeks, I have been doing a first cut edit of my manuscript, using a test print copy. Reading it on paper, in the form of a real book (just like the one in the photograph on the "Books" page here on this website) has helped me see things that I wouldn't have caught by reading it off the computer screen. I marked it up in pencil, then went back and made changes to the file when I was ready.
Meanwhile, I'm also doing lots of homework on publishing and working on publicity. Today, I send the entire text off to my editor! She's not cheap, but I want to make sure my book is top notch when it comes to word choice, spelling, sentence clarity, and overall continuity.
