A beginning?

In the end
There is always
A beginning
Too familiar?
Perhaps
But oft forgot!
Too long in darkness
Our torch batteries
are now exhausted
Our outstretched hands
Yearning to touch
Something, Anything
Separated from others
Hearing voices
None with firm directions
Are we headed
For the mouth?
Or for the abyss?
Rivers of fear
Run within
Our weary veins
But know
This maze
Of cultural travel
Has not one
But many exits
For us to choose
With eyes adjusting
I see the forms of
Seekers here around me
A rumor of light
Ahead, can we trust?
Do not stop now
Leave the rubble
Of hallowed halls
destroyed behind us
Their domes and spires
No longer house
Any authority
There is no mortar
To bind their bricks again
No need to try
We each find
A few companions
Reaching light ahead
Yet to stand
And wave to others
On nearby hilltops
We guide each other
Of various genes
Humanity all
Our Cooperation
More beneficial
Than any commander
We find nature
Within ourselves to
Strive for harmony
There is always
A beginning
Too familiar?
Perhaps
But oft forgot!
Too long in darkness
Our torch batteries
are now exhausted
Our outstretched hands
Yearning to touch
Something, Anything
Separated from others
Hearing voices
None with firm directions
Are we headed
For the mouth?
Or for the abyss?
Rivers of fear
Run within
Our weary veins
But know
This maze
